NewDad – Blue

Alternative rock band NewDad have slowly began to make waves across the west coast of Ireland right now with their other worldly sound having this alluring capability to it that invites you into their sonic universe and makes you never want to leave. They’ve already proven to be well beyond their years when it comes to songwriting, as they’ve shown in their previous tracks Swimming and Cry, but they’ve taken it to the next level today with the release of Blue.

“The song describes a divide in a relationship,” The band begin to explain. “It tells the story from the perspective of someone who wants more, but the other person can’t give it to them. It is the feeling of holding someone back because you feel too blue.

The sparse production style of the track with just a lush hazy guitar melody and somber drum beats lets the ethereal vocals to pierce through it all whilst allowing the poignantly poetic lyrics to fully take flight. It’s a subtle track with little nuances featured throughout that makes the meaning behind the piece hit even harder as the emotion begins to come cascading down upon you to the point where you’ll find yourself reaching for the tissues. Ireland has got something quite special with this band.
