Listening to Keaton Dekker’s music you get an immediate throwback feel with his sound taking influence from classic 80’s R&B pop legends and bringing it forward into the modern era. Imagine Lionel Richie mixed with a bit of LAUV and you’ll have a good idea of the dynamic sound that Dekker is regularly producing as is demonstrated in his latest offering ITYK
“I made ‘ITYK’ in my room whilst honestly wanting to be dancing by the tide at sunset,” Keaton Dekker explains. “I wanted to create pure warmth with sound, like when sun rays hit the surface of your face. The song addresses miscommunication, and how it can create a huge misjudgement of character. The twists and turns of being in a friendship that isn’t 100% open and honest.“
The whole piece is an instant ear-worm that showcases the dynamic pop potential Dekker possesses as well showing off his stunning vocals that have a tone that is simply to die for. Scintillating 80’s synths are ladened throughout the piece that make this perfect for glorious summer drives down the coast with the rest of the sun kissed production only adding to this sunny fantasy further. Throw in the honest lyrical performance and you’ve got Dekker’s strongest track to date.
