Ocean Heights – PROB

It’s all in the name: Ocean Heights is ready to dive head-first into a beach-filled summer. No need to worry about sunburns or parking meters; the Philadelphia-based band, fronted by Justin Wilkerson, is bringing the shoreline to you. Harp-like synths are reverbed into a cool seaside breeze; the bass line is slick as freshly-squeezed sunscreen; and the drums stroll along, soft and relaxed, with sand between its toes. Wilkerson’s story doesn’t go down half as easily, his relationship strained with commitment issues (“Hard to say I love you”) and avoidance (“I don’t wanna talk about it”)—the title of the song, after all, is short for “problem.” And yet, Wilkerson’s voice is so honeyed you wouldn’t think there was a trouble in the world: only the sun sitting on top of the sea.
