Hyper-pop has become a thriving genre during quarantine with more and more artists taking influence from the likes of SOPHIE and Charli XCX to begin to push the boundaries of this new genre in such a way that it’s become one of the most talked about genres globally right now. One artist whom I’ve gotten into since this genre began popping off is 19 year old Luke Markinson who takes the futuristic glitchy sound of Hyper-pop and fuses it with influences from the underground gay club music scene to create a soundscape that’s unique to others out there.
Gimme Ur Love is his latest release that is best described as The 1975 meets Kim Petras, the electronically altered vocals blend into the pulsating production filled with heart pumping beats that thrust this track forward and turn it into something that was made to be played at any club. Keep an eye on this artist as he looks like he has the capability to produce some of the best work this genre will ever see.
