It was written in the stars that Khalid would become a big name in the music industry. his debut American Teen caught the imagination of people across the globe and then you had his recent collaboration with Benny Blanco and Halsey has become an international hit. Now he’s dropped a brand new track that debut on Beats 1 Radio and, as expected, it’s a track that looks set to continue his trend of setting the world alight with his music.
Talk is an artfully blended piece of R&B pop, which doesn’t come as a surprise as the track was produced by UK duo Disclosure who are known for their fusion of the genres. Khalid’s smooth vocal effortlessly glides over the top of an almost 80’s inspired production as he croons to us about a relationship in the honeymoon period and how he wants to talk about where they’re going before they inevitably get lost. The way he sings the hook, “Can we just talk,” just makes your heart melt and when you combine that with the emotive lyrics as well you’ve got a track that will make people swoon easily.
Khalid is incapable of making a bad song and Talk is the perfect example of this. Khalid and Disclosure, a match made in heaven and we need more of these two working together.
