Canadian musician COTIS has always had a back catalogue of music that is filled with nothing but bangers, he hasn’t put out a single bad song, I swear at this point it’s just something that’s impossible for him to do. He’s already has ready made hits like Drive that I can easily see being played at pre-drinks and his previous release Girls From The North wouldn’t feel too out of place on a Post Malone record and now today we’ve got an project full of them as he unveils his debut album to the world.
Almost every track in Reckless is a hit in the making, I’m still surprised his previous single Where U At hasn’t blown up in a big way since its release but it looks like he could have an album full of hits right now as each track is a single in it’s own right. Each one offers a new insight into his sound whether it be more emotive pieces like Up and Away (a personal favourite on our end) or more pulsating rhythmic numbers like Simulation, there’s something new in each track that draws you closer into his world.
There’s some real gems in the storytelling department as well, 22 is one of the most personal tracks I’ve seen COTIS release, his emotional delivery makes the candid lyrics come to life and soon you’re hit with a wave of emotion that leaves you reeling. However there is one track I reckon will be a fan favourite and that is Reasons, there’s just something about the atmospheric production, his lush vocal and the hazy vibe of the piece that you can’t help but get addicted to and honestly I can see hundreds of fans singing this in unison at his next gig.
Overall this is COTIS’s first step to taking the world by storm. He knows what he’s doing and I have no doubt he’s a name we’ll be hearing for many years to come.
