I’ve always been a sucker for traditional folk music, be it the likes of Seth Lakeman or Christy Moore they all have this special aura around their music that just pulls you in. It’s a genre that has a lot of untapped potential which is why I am excited that bands like Beoga are trying to push the boundaries of Irish folk music with the band already collaborating with Ed Sheeran on his two tracks Nancy Mulligan and Galway Girl, giving the genre a new audience it didn’t previously have.
Today they’ve released collaboration with Lissie titled In A Rocket which that band have said is, “about growing, escapism and losing yourself. The idea of getting away from it all in your own metaphorical rocket, whatever that may be. Lissie brings a special midwestern vibe to this song that really brought it all to life for us. We wanted this song to take you away to somewhere positive and daydreamy for a few minutes. It seems apt with all that’s going on in the world at the minute.”
This is a song that can just make you smile, it’s uplifting production just makes you want to dance along to whose jubilant melodies and sing at the top of your lungs along with Lissie. It transports you away from the world we’re in currently in a rocket to a new world that is filled with colour, light and nothing but joy. It gives you a feeling that is just hard to ignore.
