I’ve always had this massive respect for D.I.Y artists who do everything from the production and mixing to the singing and instrument playing all by themselves. It require an incredible amount of talent to do all this and the American artist Gram Ash demonstrates this perfectly with his latest intoxicating yet almost ethereal single Vanity.
The lo-fi production of this track is the highlight of the single with the little nuances such as the the subtle psychedelia styled synth melodies being placed throughout the piece and the vocal harmonies adding to this entrancing atmosphere. Ash’s vocal is quiet in it’s delivery but this allows it to stand out amongst the cacophony styled production to create a uniquely surreal dynamic that makes this single one that, no matter how many times you listen it, you’ll find yourself consistently coming back to it.
