We’re going to start off by saying that this single cover is gorgeous to look at, although that isn’t really a surprise when you find out that as well as being a talented musician James Beau Barclay is also a skilled graphic designer. The artist has taken a note from Oh Wonder’s book and is taking on the big challenge of releasing a song a month for 2019.
My Head is Healing is the first track he’s released from this project and is a stripped back soul track featuring charming lyrics about a girl who is revealing a new side of Barclay that he never thought would be seen by someone. There is a lot to love about the track with the production being more minimalistic with an acoustic guitar leading the way with occasional electronic flourishes being added to the equation and Barclay’s vocal, which is reminiscent of Frank Ocean’s in Bad Religion, soothingly going over and adding that extra edge the track needed.
Month by month it is going to be exciting to see what James Beau Barclay releases and what he has in store for us in the future. The track is also available for free download so be sure to download it!
