I think at this point it’s safe to say that LANY’s sophomore album Malibu Nights is set to be one of the albums of the year. Having already released the tracks Thru These Tears and I Don’t Wanna Love You Anymore the Los Angeles based trio have already established the emotional tone of the album focusing on love and all that comes with it, from the breaks up to the first kisses they’re looking at every aspect of love.
Their latest track continues to build on this with Thick and Thin being a luscious synth pop track that will tug at your heartstrings. The lyrics are a poignant representation of what the end of a relationship can be like, focusing on the broken promises the two once thought would never break up, “Said you’d be there for me for everything, Said you’d have my back for anything.” The tender synth melody creates an intimate atmosphere that I’ve come to expect from LANY tracks with the alluring yet emotive vocal of Paul Klein adding to this. LANY truly are the kings of heartbreakingly good synth pop.
