I’ve mentioned it before but I’m going to say it again, right now Scotland’s underground music scene is thriving, each week the country is coming out with a stellar lineup of newly emerging musicians that sound like they could take the world by storm and that’s certainly the case with the Bathgate native Dylan Fraser. The small-town kid with wide-eyed ambition comes out of the gates swinging in his debut single Vipers that can be best described as what a collaboration between Radiohead and Kanye West would sound like.
What I love about this debut is the sonic fusion of two different soundscapes because it manages to take the intimate nature of folk in the verses and mixes with with the feverish chorus of bombastic beats to create something completely mind boggling. Lyrically it focuses on Fraser’s own inner turmoil during a period of uncertainty he experienced whilst figuring out his path into music and the dramatic nature of this track amplifies that message further.
This young 18 year old musicians seems to have bags of potential and with this just being his debut I can say with my hand on my heart that I’m very excited to see what else he can come out with. Keep an eye on this one.
