I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Sophie & The Giants live a few times now and every single time it’s a truly electric show with their melodic, high energy, powerful and punchy tracks leaving you begging for more by the time the show ends. What’s even more impressive is that their is no difference between their recorded music and their live performances, it sounds absolutely pristine and is just a joy to hear.
Their music is just superb with tracks like Space Girl Having this feisty and upfront lyrical style with a dynamic alternative pop sound unlike any other combined with a high flying chorus that makes an immediate impact along with a luscious vocal display that is reminiscent of Florence Welch. Then you’ve got pieces like Runaway which has addictive hooks that wriggle their way into your head to the point where you’ll find yourself singing them in the shower for months to come, exhilarating guitar melodies that make you feels as if you’re flying and beautifully written lyrics that create an empowering atmosphere surrounding the track from start to finish.
Overall this band have a sound that has left me simply enthralled throughout 2019 and I have no doubts in my mind that they’re going to continue to thrive long into 2020.
