Singapore based duo Causeway Youth’s latest offering Places is an extremely interesting track from the story standpoint because, in all honesty, I don’t think anyone has written a song about this moment before. It’s about a couple who created a Word Document in a Google Drive listing all the places they wanted to go, however now it’s all over between them and now by deleting the document they can both finally move on realising there’s nothing more to these places anymore.
It’s an emotionally poignant single that’s filled with these poetically written lyrics that paint this beautiful picture in your mind of the story unfolding with the production offering a melancholy ambience and this sonic depth that helps elevate this feeling of loss and pain even more. However it’s the earnest vocals that make each note sung feel like a freight train of emotional pain hitting you at full speed and, as a result, leaves you reaching for the tissues.
