Mike Taylor is the king of feel good anthems with his music instantly managing to put a smile on my face every time I blast them out of my stereo. Today however he’s given us a more melancholy single filled with poignantly written lyrics and raw vocals that offer more of an insight into his life.
Blackbird still features the signature brass section that we’ve come to love from Taylor’s brand of music mixed with some more intimate synth melodies that create this somber atmosphere which perfectly matches the poetic lyricisms he delivers. The star of the show however is still Taylor’s sublime vocal, he manages to inject so much personality into every song he does through his voice and even in the more emotive pieces like this he makes it feel like you know the person and, as a result, relate so much to the experience they’re going through.
