After the first few seconds of Joanna McGowan’s latest single Wasteland you’ll find yourself with goosebumps appearing over your entire body. Honestly the first few moments gave me chills with McGowan’s ethereal vocal holding a strong emotional connection with every single word she utters throughout the entirety of the track.
It’s the production and build up of the track though that make this piece stand out from the crowd. The little details just let this track soar with the thunderstorm backing the melodic piano being the perfect example of this. Then you’ve got that chorus which arrive with a grand explosion of sound and becomes this cacophony of beauty with the drums, piano, guitars and vocals all weaving into one another to create something that stays with you long after the song has finished.
