Debut singles is the most important song an artist will ever release as it introduces their sound to the world. It’s more than just a song, it’s a statement and the six piece Chicago based band Perfect Blue have certainly made a brilliant first impression with the cacophony of beauty that is their debut single Wicked.
The production of this track is simply superb with a textured soundscape filled with hazy guitars that captivate you from the very start, melancholy drum beats reminiscent of San Fermin, subtle horns that add a certain charm to the track and honey drizzled vocals that leave you with goosebumps all over your body. It’s DIY music at it’s finest with the band producing, recording and mixing the entire song, honestly it’s easy to see why Sarah Register (Depeche Mode and The Shins) mastered this.
