MC Nelson – Flowers

-

In the UK, Liverpool is more renowned for it’s pop and rock scene with legendary acts like The Beatles coming from the legendary city as well as more modern acts like Circa Waves and The Wombats, to name but a few. However the musical city is not often renowned for it’s thriving rap scene, that title belongs to London, but the Liverpudilan MC Nelson looks to change that with the rapper and producer already receiving high amounts of praise for his portrayal of English identity, race and British Colonialism in his debut project Anglosfear. From there he has toured across the UK and Europe with countless artists such as Loyle Carner and legends like Slum Village that slowly saw this artist be turned into a seasoned performer.

Flowers is the latest addition to his story driven music with this piece examining life, death, love and growth with such poise and pristine that you’ll find yourself contemplating the meaning of it all long after the track has finished playing. Laidback beats mixed with a luscious guitar melody create a blissfully dreamy soundscape that allows his flow to stand out even more and allow the lyrics, with undeniable cadence, to leave a long lasting impact upon the listener. Combine that with a floral music video and you’ve got a rapper who’s looking to put the Liverpool rap scene on the map.
