John MacLane – Leaves

The more tracks that John MacLane releases the more I wonder whether this is actually a music site or a fan page for him. Genuinely every track I’ve heard from him has left me in a state of pure bliss with his swirling electronic melodies that could be associated with The 1975 with the mystical quality they offer and understated vocals leaving me utterly entranced. He’s not put a foot wrong throughout his entire music career and that is continuing today with his latest release.

Leaves is a slightly more hazy affair this time around with the vocals having a static effect over them that gives the piece a nostalgic flair to it, almost like someone looking back on their old memories of a forgone relationship. The warping melodies are ever present providing the perfect backing for the earnest lyrics as the intimate nature of the track lets the emotion cascade down upon you til you find yourself reaching for the tissues. Stellar stuff once again from this impressive talent.
