LYRA – New Day

If you haven’t heard of the Irish songstress LYRA then you need to dive into her discography right now as she hasn’t put out a bad song, each track she delivers has an undeniable spellbinding quality to it that draws you into her sonic universe and leaves you breathless at the end. Ever since her debut in 2016 she has been impressing us and she continues to amaze today with the release of her cover of Jackie Lomax’s 1969 song titled New Day.

She puts her own haunting twist on the track with the dramatic production of emphatic drum beats, subtle vocal harmonies and somber piano melodies whilst it all slowly builds to a grand finale where a hopeful sensibility comes into play and leaves you feeling a bit more optimistic about what the future holds right now. Whatever she touches LYRA turns to gold and this track is no exception, she’s a true talent and watching her grow as a musician has been a pure pleasure.
