Sydney raised London based singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist John The Singer has one of the most fascinating soundscapes that I’ve come across in recent times. He takes electronic sensibilities that have become present in a lot of music in the charts but fuses it with this undeniable creative flair and rustic songwriting style that creates something completely unmistakable. You hear his debut Crown on the radio and you instantly know that it is him and his sophomore single You Know is no different.
It’s a stripped back and honest affair with John writing this from his own personal experience. The tender vocals are utterly lush with the ambient piano melody building on this loving feeling that he’s effortlessly created through the soundscape and the slightly electronic enhancement in his vocal is just the cherry on top of the whole piece. This is one of those tracks that is best experienced in total darkness where you let the music just take over you.
