DWLLRS – It’s Only Up From Here

The sleepy beach town of San Clemente, California is where we start our story today as it’s where the alternative pop duo DWLLRS, comprised of Bren Eissman and Joey Spurgeon, reside and create their lushly textured sound. I mention this because their beach home town help influence their music with the alt surf rock vibe coming through in all of their previous tracks whilst mixing it in with production elements that are similar to Frank Ocean and Tame Impala in multiple ways.

Their latest single It’s Only Up From Here is the perfect way to showcase their sound with warm enticing guitar melodies that belong in a summer beach movie, lushly toned vocals with a soulful edge to them and a sense of nostalgia that is hard not to fall head over heels for. The highlight of the track though is that underlying sense of hope they provide in the track, it tells us how although we might feel like we’ve hit rock bottom right now, there’s only one way to go after that.
