Alex Porat – Never Say ILY Again

-

I’m a sucker for a good relatable pop track and Alex Porat usually has those abundance with her signature buoyant pop track with this melancholy edge that makes her music stand out amongst other artists within this industry attempting to do what she manages to do with absolute ease. She previously released Happy For You that focuses on break ups in the modern age of social media through her heartfelt lyricisms and today she’s building on that theme with Never Say ILY Again that is her cheekily expressing the regrets about a past relationship as she explains below:

“It felt like the right thing to pair this sad feeling with a fun upbeat song. I usually use humour to cope with pain and sadness so it felt very real the way the track is the opposite of what I’m trying to say. I’m a dramatic person at times especially when it feels like the end of the world so this song is a great reminder that any negative feelings that I’ve felt in the past are temporary and they do go away. What’s life without a couple ups and downs, you know?”

It continues to highlight the dream qualities of Porat’s sound with the scintillating trap influenced synth beats combining with the gently propulsive guitar melody as her crystalline vocal soar effortlessly over the grandeur of it, all whilst delivering the bittersweet lyrics with a sense of humour and emotion, all show in the lyric, “I guess I just have bad taste.” Porat just writes music that appeals to everyone, no matter who you are you can find a piece of yourself in her music and that’s what makes her a stellar pop artist.
