Around a month or so ago Khamari released his debut single and it’s become one of my favourite debuts of 2020 so far. Jealous just had such an earnest nature about it mixed with the gorgeously laidback tones of Khamari’s vocals that just gave me the serotonin boost that I was desperately in need of. Today he’s continuing to thrive in this industry with the release of his sophomore track The Heat that was given the final production edit by Trackside (Selena Gomez, Tinashe, Bryce Vine) and, as expected, it’s another home run for this upcoming artist.
The track is an ode to escaping an unsalvageable relationship with the lovelorn vocals of Khamari pleading his case as the sparse production of scintillating beats, lush bass riffs and somber melodies provide the perfect backdrop. He tells his story through his poetic lyricisms of wanting to get away from someone without knowing where he’ll go next but just knowing he needs to get away. It’s a raw and honest tale told through his candid nature that showcases what makes him so fascinating as an artist and it’s easy to see why he’s the hottest name on everyones lips right now.
