Melbourne based musician Shannen James has only released two singles so far but her lusciously toned vocal as well as her anthemic brand of emotive indie pop has left us begging for more after every listen. If I had to describe her sound it’s like Kacey Musgraves vocal mixed with the feel good nature of modern Paramore and emotive lyrics of Haim, each so distinct but when she puts it all together it will give you goosebumps easily. It’s music you’d want to hear in a modern day John Hughes movie.
Now today she’s unveiled her latest single Arrows that is a summer anthem in the making with hazy rock guitars having a warm inviting nature to them, a uplifting atmosphere surrounding the production as a whole and an addictive hook in the chorus that was made for singing out loud at the top of your lungs. On top of all that you’ve got the emotional power of the lyrics that are delivered effortlessly from the silky tones of her vocal that is just the cherry on top of this outstanding number. She just gets better and better with every release and we have no doubt she’s going to continue hitting it out of the park for years to come.
