The songstress RIIKI is one of the most exciting musical exports coming out of New Zealand right now with her refreshing brand of elegant yet edgy pop captivating fans across the world. Her debut One Day was a shimmering pop anthem that was reminiscent of a pop orientated Jorja Smith and her follow up High Heights built upon this further. Now she’s expanded on her two song catalogue with the release of her stirring new single titled Share Your Luv. The track details being on the receiving end of someone abruptly ending a friendship/relationship as RIIKI explains below:
“I’m usually the friend helping people I know around me in these situations, but it just feels so damn real when you’re in it and you truly experience that really sad feeling you never saw coming. Although, it is so important that if you fall into that situation you remind yourself ‘you were never the problem or held responsible, they were’. Don’t blame yourself, instead have a lil boogie because this only made you way stronger”
Her Lyricisms portray the emotions of the situation expertly well with the focus on your drastic change of opinion on said person, one second you see them as your best friend and then the next you see them as something else entirely, despite the fact you’re still longing to spend time with them. The emotive vocals of RIIKI evoke this whole message beautifully but she does offer a light at the end of the tunnel with the track also being celebration that the pain will pass and you’ll continue your life without them feeling all the more happy for it. Remember the name RIIKI she’ll be topping the charts in your country soon.
