Afflecks Palace – Pink Skies

The weather is glorious in the UK right now and if you’re looking for a laidback, hazy summer anthem to soundtrack your days of tanning in the garden, balcony or anywhere that doesn’t mean you break the quarantine rules then Afflecks Palace have you more than covered. The quartet from Manchester deliver shimmering pieces of psych rock with a dream pop twist that has been affectionately been named Nu-Madchester.

Their latest release Pink Skies has instantly made me a fan with the warm inviting melodies that have a happy-go-lucky vibe to them thats reminiscent of 1960’s pop before going into the more psych rock guitar riffs later in the piece. There is a certain charm to their music that is damn near irresistible too with the lo-fi production giving the piece more personality and the feel good nature that radiates through their music is contagious, it’s hard not smile throughout this track.

We might be locked up for a good chunk of the summer but the good warm vibes will be here forever with tracks like this.
