With artists like Florence + The Machine becoming global icons the dramatic art pop genre has been slowly taking over the world over the past few years and I couldn’t be more happy about it. Now we have the Israeli musician and performer Gili Portal joining this genre with her cinematic story driven track Forest.
One of this tracks best assets is the ominous nature that is created through the production of dramatic drum beats, Celtic influenced violin melodies and somber synths that make this whole piece feel like you’re sat round a campfire late at night getting told an ancient legend. You’re enthralled from start to finish with the vividly imaginative lyrics, hauntingly beautiful vocal and captivating atmosphere that leaves you begging for more when the piece comes to an end.
